Keeping Busy in Epping

The George & Dragon is located in the market town of Epping. Steeped in history, character, and green open spaces, this part of Essex offers the perfect spot for a short break or a day away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

The town itself is home to plenty of old buildings, many of which are Grade I or Grade II listed — so it’s a great place to explore once you’ve finished your meal and drinks at The George & Dragon.

The pub, bar, and restaurant is also just a stone’s throw from Epping Forest. This 6000-acre area of national and international conservation importance is a significant habitat for wildlife and offers the perfect spot for walkers and families looking to explore the great outdoors. The forest also plays host to a diverse range of events throughout the year and there are plenty of activities to get involved in, including walking, running, cycling, horse riding, angling, football and golf. And, once you’ve worked up a healthy appetite, make sure you head to The George and the Dragon to refresh and refuel.

Close by, you’ll also find the ancient market town of Waltham Abbey, which is home to the Royal Gunpowder Mills and renowned as the resting place of King Harold.

Of course, it goes without saying that the bright lights of central London are also within easy reaching distance, making it the perfect base for exploring the capital’s many attractions, such as the London Eye, the Tower of London, and the many shops to be found on both Oxford Street and Regent Street.
